Description

Create stunning crystal pinecones that resemble frozen rainbows, perfect for adding a touch of elegance to your home decor. This easy craft project is great for families and beginners alike.

Materials

  • Pinecones (as many as you desire)
  • Borax (about 1 cup per pinecone)
  • Water (4 cups)
  • Food coloring (in your choice of colors)
  • A large pot
  • String (for hanging)
  • A stirring tool
  • A heat source (like a stove)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace with all materials ready.
  2. Mix the borax solution by heating 4 cups of water nearly to boiling and stirring in 1 cup of borax until dissolved.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring to the solution for desired rainbow effects.
  4. Prepare the pinecones by tying a piece of string to allow them to hang without touching the pot’s bottom.
  5. Submerge the pinecones completely in the borax solution and let them sit for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  6. Remove the pinecones and allow them to dry on paper towels to enjoy the crystals you’ve created!

Notes

Supervise children closely when handling hot water and borax. Adding glitter to the solution can enhance sparkle.
