A delightful craft project to create sparkling frozen ice crystal pinecones, perfect for winter decor and family activities.
Materials
- Pinecones
- 1 cup of Borax
- 2 cups of Water
- String (for hanging)
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the solution: Start by boiling about 2 cups of water in your container. Gradually add 1 cup of borax to the boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved.
- Add color: If you’d like to add a twist to your pinecones, now’s the time to incorporate food coloring into the solution.
- Immerse the pinecones: Slowly submerge each pinecone into the solution, ensuring they’re fully covered.
- Let them sit: Leave the pinecones in the solution for at least 24 hours for the crystallization process to occur.
- Remove and rinse: After 24 hours, carefully take the pinecones out and rinse them under cold water.
- Dry and display: Allow the creations to dry completely before using them in decor or as gifts.
Notes
Using boiling water helps dissolve borax completely. Experiment with different pinecone shapes and sizes for unique results.
