Description

Create vibrant ice gems with this fun DIY project, perfect for decoration or a science activity with kids.

Materials

  • Water
  • Gel Food Coloring
  • Ice Cube Trays or Silicone Molds
  • Spray Bottle (optional)
  • Salt (optional)
  • Spoon

Instructions

  1. Fill the ice cube trays or silicone molds with water and add gel food coloring drops to each compartment.
  2. Place the molds in the freezer for several hours until completely frozen.
  3. Remove the molds carefully and let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes to release the gems.
  4. Experiment with layering different shades for a dimensional look.
  5. Create facets by scraping the surface with a spoon for a crystal effect.

Notes

For more intense colors, use more food coloring. Ensure molds are filled completely and don’t rush the freezing process.
